Below you will find many helpful resources available to students at UCSF. The BMS Program and its staff are here to support students in every way we can and are happy to refer and/or connect students with staff from any of the support services below. Tutoring
Tutoring is available for BMS 260 Cell Biology and BMS 255 Genetics. Students may contact course instructors, curriculum coordinator Priscilla Pereira or Meredith Miner for information about participating in pre-course/refresher review, and individual or group tutoring sessions. Graduate advisors and course instructors may also recommend students for participation in refresher sessions or tutoring.
UCSF Graduate Division
Aside from the BMS website, this is your ‘go to’ website for information related to your time here at UCSF. The Graduate Division serves as the institutional home for graduate education and postdoctoral scholarship at UCSF, advocates for graduate students and postdocs, and promotes excellence in all graduate and postdoctoral training programs.
UCSF Student Health & Counseling
Student Health & Counseling Services offers comprehensive primary care to all students. They encourage you to select a primary care provider who can provide you with preventive healthcare services, routine screenings, health maintenance counseling, patient education, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses as well as coordination of specialty care.
UCSF Counseling & Psychological Services
Students receive ten free counseling sessions at Student Health per year. Counseling may cover emotional issues, help in finding your academic/career path, etc. Once the annual session limit is reached, referrals can be made for low-cost counseling.
UCSF Learning Resource Services
For students encountering more difficult academic demands or who would like to improve their overall approach to academic success, there are numerous strategies that can help enhance study skills, test, performance, and mastery of material. Services are provided through workshops tailored to specific academic programs and through individual consultations, and cover understanding of learning styles, application of more effective study strategies, better test preparation, more efficient use of time, and better management of test anxiety.

UCSF Office of Career and Professional Development
The OCPD serves the academic, professional and career development needs of UCSF students and graduate trainees. Individual appointments may be made with a counselor to discuss career advice.
UCSF Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Resource Center
LGBT Resources (LGBTQ) presents a wide variety of educational and mentoring programs for LGBT students, advocates for LGBT student needs, and offers informal advising to individual students.
